⁂ First edition of possibly the first known video game manual.
The Nimrod computer was built by Ferranti for the 1951 Festival of Great Britain. It was designed to play Nim, an ancient mathematical logic game, and as such was one of the video game machines constructed and certainly the first developed in the UK. Nimrod was tremendously popular and drew in a number of famous challengers including Alan Turing who beat the computer, allegedly causing a malfunction in the process.
