Containing their History, Law, Liturgie, Casts, Customes, and Ceromonies, 2 parts in 1, first edition, additional engraved pictorial title by William Marshall, second part with separate title, both signed by previous owner, ink inscription to preliminary blank, lacking Y4 (final blank), tiny rust hole affecting odd letter (F2), bookplate, modern morocco by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, [STC 16825], small 4to, by T. and R. Coates, for Fra. Constable, 1630.
⁂ Early work on two religious groups of India, the Hindu Bania (merchant caste) and the Zoroastrian Parsees, by the chaplain to the East India Company at Surat in Gujarat from 1624 to 1629. The engraved title reads: A Display of two forraigne sects in the East Indies vizt: The sect of the Banians the Ancient Natives of India and the Sect of the Persees the Ancient Inhabitants of Persia....
