Churchill (Sir Winston Leonard Spencer, Prime Minister, 1874-1965) Typed Letter signed to Mrs Sax-Schlatler of Zurich, 1p. & envelope, sm. 4to, Chartwell, Westerham, Kent, 21st May 1964, sending condolences on the death of her husband, Willy Sax, supplier of paints to Churchill, "I well remember my many meetings and friendship with your Husband, and I was always grateful to him for his kindness and assistance in my painting"; and a telegram from Churchill to Sax ordering "six tubes of Kadmium Rose", 91 x 206mm., 12th March 1951, folds (3).

⁂ Willy Sax (1898-1964), paint manufacturer, of Urdorf, Switzerland. Churchill corresponded with Sax for 18 years about painting supplies and various types of paints. Sax wrote a book about his friendship with Churchill, Farben für Churchills Leinwand, published, 1995.
