[Pagitt (Ephraim)] Christianographie, or The Description of the multitude and sundry sorts of Christians in the World not subject to the Pope, first edition, 4 folding engraved maps, woodcut initials and headpieces, errata f. at end, ink name partially erased from title resulting in small hole, not affecting text, 1 map with neatly repaired short tear running from inner margin, small rust-hole to V3 with loss to single letter of text, some light foxing, pencil inscription to endpaper, bookplate to pastedown, contemporary calf, rebacked, later endpapers, worn, 4to, [STC 19110], 4to, by T.P. and W.J. for Matthew Costerden, 1635.
⁂ Scarce at auction. The maps depict the world (ie without the Americas and Australia) and individual ones of Europe, Africa and Asia.
Provenance: Calvin Ellis Stowe (1802-1886, American Biblical scholar and husband and literary agent of Harriet Beecher Stowe, his pencil inscription and bookplate).
