Lessius (Leonardus) Sir Walter Rawleigh' Ghost; or, His Apparition to an Intimate Friend, Willing Him to Translate into English, this Learned Book, engraved portrait frontispiece of Raleigh, title within typographic border, woodcut initial and headpiece, small chip to margin of frontispiece, small portion torn away from rear endpaper, ink stamp to frontispiece verso, modern morocco, [Wing L1180], 12mo, by Tho. Newcomb, for John Holden; and are to be sold at his shop at the Anchor in the New-Exchange, 1651.

⁂ Popular work by Lessius, translated into numerous languages including Chinese. For the English edition a preface purportedly by the ghost of Sir Walter Raleigh was supplied in which he states that when alive he so enjoyed the work (De providentia Numinis) that he wished to see it translated into English.
