Harris (William Cornwallis) Narrative of an Expedition into Southern Africa, during the Years 1836, and 1837, first edition, half-title, lithographed frontispiece and 3 plates, tissue guards, folding lithographed map with routes supplied by hand in red, blue & green, 8pp. list of subscribers at end, lightly browned, marginal staining at beginning & end and to edges of plates, Gadsden bookplate, with original Bombay bookseller's receipt for 10 Rupees made out to Dr.Deacon Gutch tipped in at beginning, contemporary half black roan over marbled boards, uncut, rubbed, spine repaired, new corners, preserved in modern morocco-backed cloth drop-back box, spine gilt, [Abbey, Travel 333], 8vo, Bombay, American Mission Press, 1838.
⁂ First issue, published in Bombay, of the author's big-game hunting expedition which includes additional information on the Boers and the Great Trek. It was published in London the following year as The Wild Sports of Southern Africa, with new plates.
