Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) A Sleeping Puppy, etching with drypoint, circa 1640, a delicate impression of this rare, lightly bitten print, New Hollstein's third state (of three), sheet 39 x 73 mm. (1 1/2 x 2 7/8 in), almost 10 mm. trimmed away from the image at the left side, otherwise trimmed to or just within the platemark with thin margin around image, laid onto support with repairs visible, notably a large tear running into the image in the left quadrant, a crease into the face of the puppy from the lower edge, otherwise small ink spots and surface dirt (unframed)
