⁂ Rare, with ESTC and WorldCat recording only two copies of this work in any edition (National Maritime Museum, which WorldCat describes as the fourth edition, and Harvard). It was printed in the same year as the first edition, which was produced in such haste that it lacked a leaf of the introduction (present here). Inspired by the mutiny at Spithead sailors at the Nore anchorage in the Thames estuary followed suit. Parker was elected 'President of the Delegates of the Fleet', which according to him was done without his knowledge. The Admiralty were furious with the grievances presented and in return offered nothing but a pardon, assuming the mutineers returned to duty immediately. This was rebuffed. And so, Parker hoisted the signal for the ships to sail to France, but none followed, leading to the eventual petering out of the uprising. Parker was convicted of treason and piracy and hanged from the yardarm of the Sandwich, the vessel upon which the mutiny had begun.
