⁂ Shortly before his death in 1601 Tycho Brahe asked Kepler to complete his Rudolphine tables, named after his patron Emperor Rudolph II and first published in 1627. The resultant work, based on Kepler's discovery of the laws of planetary motion and on his introduction to logarithms, produced far more accurate positions than those in earlier tables.
