Montagu (Elizabeth, author and literary hostess, 1718-1800) Autograph Letter signed to Lady Macartney, 3pp., sm. 4to, n.p., 1786, on a suitable house for them, "Donnington House is a tolerable habitation, & most delightfully situated in the Castle", but recommending another at Adbury, "but I fear it is not such as would accommodate Lord Macartney & your Ladyship, as its inhabitants were but odd people", and enquiring after Lord Macartney's health, "I hope Lord Macartney's gout is mitigated by the milder character of the weather today", 2 small tears along central fold, browned.
