Description

Blake (William).- Bryant (Jacob, friend of William Blake, antiquary and classical scholar, bap. 1717, d. 1804) Autograph Letter signed to an unknown recipient, 2pp., 223 x 183mm., Cippenham, [Buckinghamshire now Berkshire], 28th September 1786, giving thanks for the prints and discussing the goddess Isis and her association with medicine, folds, lightly browned.

⁂ Bryant's theories are widely credited as an influence on the mythological system of his friend William Blake, who had worked as an engraver on the illustrations to the former's A New System or Analysis of Ancient Mythology, 1774-76. Conceivably the recipient of this letter was Blake.
