Ardizzone (Edward) An original design for "The Gasworks" restaurant flyer, a preliminary sketch, brush and black ink, graphite, on thin tissue, 280 x 400 mm. (11 x 15 3/4 in), handling creases, surface dirt, unframed; together with 23 printed copies of the final design, 22 on purple coloured wove paper, each 130 x 190 mm. (5 1/8 x 7 1/2 in).
⁂ From serving gangsters to royalty, the Gasworks Restaurant in Fulham became legendary in the 1970s and 1980s, with claimed clientele as diverse as Princess Margaret, the Rolling Stones, and the Fulham Gangster John Bindon.
