⁂ A large broadside reporting this patricide by arsenic poisoning. Reportedly Richard Gallop had been something of a bully, resulting in his wife and the mother of Mary taking her own life. Upon the the death of her mother Mary became the focus of her father's cruelty. The jury deliberated for only 5 minutes, finding here guilty, but recommending clemency. The judge, however, dismissed any calls for mercy and pronounced the death sentence.
