Beardsley (Aubrey) Set of Eight Engravings to Illustrate Lysistrata, 8 plates loose in original printed wrappers (split along spine and faded and creased at edges), 4to, [c.1905].
⁂ Rare large paper printing of the plates from Beardsley's fin-de-siècle erotic masterpiece. The first edition of Lysistrata was published in 1896 in an edition of only 100 copies, with several subsequent pirated editions, and a collotype reissue of the plates in 1929. This rare early edition of the plates replicates the published edition in that the illustrations are printed on Japanese vellum, however the plates are here printed on large paper.
