[A Collection of Papers in Journal of the Proceedings of the Linnean Society], comprising vol. 1, nos. 1, 2 & 4; vol. 2, no. 6; vol. 3, nos. 11 & 12; vol. 4, no.15 & vol. 5 no.17, together 8 vol., all with presentation inscriptions from J. S. Henslow to Ipswich Museum to upper covers, plates, Ipswich Reference Library ink stamps to text and upper covers and bookplate to inside of upper covers, vol. 1 no. 1 lacking all after p. 48, largely unopened, original wrappers, 3 vol. with upper cover detached (that of vol. 1, no. 1 chipped and creased with some loss to inscription), 2 vol. lacking lower covers, some light creasing, some spines chipped and worn, 8vo, 1856-60.
⁂ An excellent group including several important papers by Darwin's collaborator A. R. Wallace, covering much of the research that was produced during his time in the Malay Peninsular that would contribute to his famous collaboration with Darwin "On the tendencies of species to form varieties; and on the perpetrations of varieties and species by natural means of selection" (that paper listed here in vol. 3, no. 12, though present in an earlier number). The volumes all include presentation inscriptions from John Stevens Henslow (1796-1861), friend, mentor and correspondent of Darwin's.
