⁂ Monumental work undertaken by the polymath Scheuchzer, attempting to marry the scriptures with the sciences, including paleontology, zoology, biology, astronomy and geology. The plates are after drawings by Johann Melchior Fuessli and are set within borders, often allegorical, by J.D. Preissler.
