⁂ Ownership signature of Charles Cookson, Woolwich Common (possibly the subscriber "Colonel Cookson, Royal Artillery"). Margaret Bryan opened a school for girls near Hyde Park Corner in the early 1790s, relocating to Blackheath in 1795. Unusually she focussed her pupils' education on mathematics and science. In 1797 she published A Compendious System of Astronomy.
