Boccaccio (Giovanni) Il Decamerone...con tre novelle aggiunte, collation: AA8 a-z8 &8 [pi-2pi]8 A-O8 P10 complete with final leaf (blank except for woodcut device on verso), numerous woodcut illustrations in text including larger ones for chapter headings, occasional minor foxing, 18th century red morocco, gilt, g.e., single small worm-hole to spine, a couple of minor scratches, 8vo, Florence, Philippo di Giunta, 29 July, 1516.
⁂ Superb copy of the rare first Giunta edition with its splendid series of illustrations and which contains the three extra novels for the first time. 'Boccaccio's' address to the reader discusses the art of printing and praises the present printer. The woodcut at the beginning of the 'Proemio' shows Boccaccio's seven women and three men seated in a garden for the telling of the tales (this is repeated).
