Thornton (Dr. Robert John) Collection of 17 botanical plates, from 'The Temple of Flora', aquatints, with etching and engraving, with full hand-colouring, on various wove papers, two with partial watermarks of 'E&P' [probably early 1800s], platemarks each approx. 475 x 350 mm (18 3/4 x 13 3/4 in), varying widths of margins with some trimmed, but mostly outside the platemarks, seven laid down onto card support, some scattered spotting and surface dirt, tabbed into uniform conservation mounts, unframed, [circa 1810-1812]; together with an original blue paper wrapper with printed label upper cover 'Number XI of Thornton's New Illustrations of the Sexual System of Linnaeus', with various single leaves, and engravings of figure groups, all loose, unframed, 1810-1812 (Sm. qty.)
