Augustinus (Aurelius, Saint) Explanatio psalmorum, 3 parts in 1, collation: a b a8b-t8.6v6x8; A-K8.6L8M-P8.6Q R8S-V6X8Y6Z8AA-DD6EE8; 1-188.619620821-23624825-76288, double column, 549 ff. (of 550, lacking initial blank), 1b8 blank, 54 lines and headline, Gothic type, initials, paragraph-marks and underlining in red or blue, early ink marginalia, a few short marginal tears with occasional loss, water-stained, some spotting or mostly light foxing, a few small ink stains, contemporary ornately blind-stamped panelled pigskin over wooden boards, remains of metal clasps with rosette decoration, covers with central panel of intersecting lines enclosing floral decorations, within an outer rosette border, spine in compartments and with interlinked large leaf decoration, head of spine and upper corners little worn, a few wormholes, rubbed and scuffed and marked, folio (317 x 215mm.), Basel, Johann Amerbach [and Johann Petri de Langendorff], [not after 8 September], 1489.
⁂ Second edition of one of St. Augustine's major exegetical works. The edition was presumably ready for sale by 8th September, 1489, when the Cologne bookseller Heinrich Muelich ordered 10 copies fromAmerbach(cf. A. Hartmann ed., DieAmerbach korrespondenz, I, 21-22).
