⁂ Important work documenting the proposed marriage of Elizabeth I. Digges, poet, diplomat and large share-holder in the East India Company, had died in 1639. This work was published from copies of the correspondence of Elizabeth with Leicester, Burghley, Walsingham and Sir Thomas Smith, which had been found amongst Digges' papers.
