Ashendene Press.- Cervantes Saavedra (Miguel de) The First [& Second] Part of the History of the Valorous and Wittie Knight-Errant Don-Quixote of the Mancha, translated by Thomas Shelton, 2 vol., [one of 225 copies on paper], printed in red and black in Ptolemy type in double-column, woodcut borders and initials designed by Louise Powell and engraved by W.M.Quick and George H.Ford, original dark green morocco, by the W.H.Smith bindery, spines titled in gilt with seven raised bands, uncut, slightly rubbed at edges, tiny gouge to upper cover of vol.1, spine of vol.2 a little faded, [Franklin p.241; Hornby XXXVI], folio, Ashendene Press, 1927-28.
⁂ The first Ashendene Press book printed in Ptolemy type, designed after Holle's edition of Ptolemy's Geographia published in Ulm in 1482.
