Charles II (King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, 1630-85) Order to the royal jewellers Francis Sympson and John Sympson, to make "certaine Medalls of gold, enameled with such pictures and devices as might bee more suitable to their respective qualities and degrees" for Sir Edward Bysshe Clarencieux King of Arms and William Dugdale Norroy King of Arms, D.s. "Charles R", manuscript on vellum, 3 hand-coloured coats of arms designs in left margin, folds, slightly creased, 335 x 441mm., Whitehall, 16th 1663.
⁂ An order by Charles II to his jewellers on behalf of Clarenceux and Norroy kings of arms at the heralds college, for two medals to enhance their prestige while undertaking their various visitations of counties. The order was for two medals "of fine gold, enameled on the one side with the Royall Armes of England Scotland France and Ireland, in single and distinct Escocheons and an Imperiall Crowne above the head of each, with a red Rose including the white in the midst thereof, and our Royall Cypher betwixt every Escocheon; and on the other side the Armes of their distinct Offices of Clarencieux and Norroy."
