Ashendene Press.- Wilde (Oscar) The Young King and Other Tales, one of 65 copies, Subiaco type, printed in red, blue and black with initials by Graily Hewitt in blue, bound in crushed dark green morocco, [by Douglas Cockerell] at the W.H.Smith Bindery, covers with border of single gilt fillet with small arrow heads at each end divided by small gilt dot halfway along sides and at corners, spine titled and ruled in gilt in compartments with small dots to corners, seven raised bands, turn-ins with fillets as covers, signed "Bound by W.H.Smith & Son" at foot of rear turn-in, uncut, with a couple of small dulled patches to upper cover, [Franklin p.241; Hornby XXXIV], 8vo (binding c.210 x 150mm.), Ashendene Press, 1924.

"Cockerell's work is sometimes hidden in the trade name of W.H.Smith on bindings of Ashendene books. He was in charge of Smith's bindery for many years, and designed for them. It is accepted that Ashendene books bound by W.H.Smith are indeed Cockerell bindings." Colin Franklin in The Private Presses p.55.
