The Life and Death of Sir Thomas Moore Lord high Chancellour of England, first edition, woodcut initials, head- and tail-pieces, ?3-4 with short tear touching odd letter and neat repairs, R1-4 with small loss to top edge affecting headlines and expert tissue repairs, 2Y2 with small marginal ink note, early ink signatures to title and final ff., spotting and staining, new endpapers, contemporary calf, rebacked and recased, expert repairs to upper cover, a little rubbed, 4to, [Douai, Printed by B. Bellière], [1631].

⁂ Provenance. Early ink signature of Edward Wood to title. Ink signature of Rich. Fleetewodd, and dated 1640 to final leaf, possibly Sir Richard Fleetwood (d.1649), the High Sheriff of Staffordshire who built Wootton Lodge at Ellastone.

A good copy of this scarce biography of More, written by his great grandson and dedicated to Queen Henrietta Maria.
