India.- Railways.- Johnston and Hoffman, photographers.- New State Train, presentation inscription from Superintendant of Rolling Stock Herbert Kelway Bamber to his wife "to whose ability, encouragement, & ever-willing assistance are largely due the the satisfactory results realized in the construction of this train" to front free endpaper, 12 platinum prints by Johnston and Hoffman (240 x 290mm., or the reverse), individually mounted on thick card, recto only, each photograph with printed title and caption on the mount, browning and staining to mounts, spotting to first 2 images and occasionally thereafter, original green half morocco, rebacked, retaining original backstrip, damp-staining, rubbing and wear to extremities, oblong folio, 1904.
⁂ A fine series of photographs of state train, created for Lord Curzon of Kedleston, Viceroy and Governor-General of India and used by King George V and Queen Mary during their tours of Indian in 1905 and 1912. This copy inscribed by the Hebert Kelway Bamber who was appointed by Lord Curzon to design and build the train.
