James II and VII (as Duke of York and Lord High Admiral, King of England, Scotland, and Ireland, 1633-1701) Letter signed to the Commissioners of His Majesty's Ordinance "Whereas His Majesty's Shipp the Hound is now come upp to Deptford... These are... to... require you... to... receive from Walter Jones Master Gunner... an account of the expenditure on board the same during the last voyage...", D.s. "James", folds, slightly browned, tipped-in on card, folio, Whitehall, 6th December 1664; and another, an engraved portrait of James II, v.s., v.d. (2).
*** HMS Hound was an 18-gun ship captured in 1656 and expended as a fire ship in 1666.
