Middle East.- Eastern Tour 1873, huge photograph album of Egypt and the Levant with 171 albumen prints and one large folding panorama of Constantinople in pocket at rear, all with printed captions, a few early prints hand-coloured, some with stains, some partially faded, heavy dust-soiling and some foxing at beginning and end to mounts, but on the whole prints in good condition, various sizes from 377 x 270mm. to c. 150 x 205mm., plus a few loosely inserted photographs at end, contemporary green half morocco, spine lettered in gilt, upper cover with gilt-lettered morocco label, worn, large folio, 1873.

⁂ This monumental album covers Egypt, the Holy Land, Balbec, Damascus, Lebanon, Athens and Corfu. Photographers include Beato, Bechard, Sebah, Dumas, Bergheim, Bonfils and Constantin with many prints signed or captioned in the negative. The panorama of Constantinople (by Bonfils), faded at the folds, measures 188 x 2700mm.
