Alighieri (Dante) Le Terze Rime, [edited by Pietro Bembo], collation: a-z8 A-G8 H4, italic type, l2 blank, woodcut printer's device to final verso, initial at the opening of each of the three parts supplied in gilt on a red, green or blue ground within a double filet gilt border, title (a1) supplied in good facsimile on 16th century paper (with paschal lamb within a circle watermark), obliterated ink inscription to lower margin of first recto of each of the three parts, c8 short tear in lower margin, piece torn from blank l2, water-stained, some spotting, mostly lightly browned, later vellum, spine in compartments, little stained and marked, 8vo (155 x 97mm.), [Venice], [Aldus Manutius], [August, 1502].

⁂ First Aldine edition, second issue (with printer's device to final verso). It was the first small format edition of Dante, and was edited by the Venetian scholar, poet, and literary theorist Cardinal Pietro Bembo (1470-1547).
