Cranmer (Thomas, Archbishop of Canterbury) Defensio Verae et Catholicae Doctrinae de Sacramento corporis & sanguinis Christi, collation: A-X8 Y4, with final blank leaf Y4, ownership inscription of W.J. Guerrier dated 1916 to front free endpaper, title with a few very small nicks to margins, trimmed close at points, a few times shaving printed side-notes, some early ink underlining and annotation (occasionally trimmed), occasional passage-marking in later pencil, final blank with early ink note, a few short tears and paper repair to head, lightly browned, some faint marginal water-staining, occasional light soiling, later navy morocco, gilt, rubbed, g.e., [Adams C2869; STC 6005], small 8vo (130 x 80mm.), [Emden], [Egidius van der Erve], 1557.

⁂ The second Latin edition, the variant with date but no imprint on title; the original English edition appeared in 1550, the first Latin, probably translated by Sir John Cheke, in 1553.
