Horses.- Cavendish (William, Duke of Newcastle) Methode et Invention Nouvelle de Dresser les Chevaux, second edition, engraved double-page title and 42 double-page engraved plates by Pieter de Jode the Younger after Abraham van Diepenbeeck, mounted on stubs, rather browned and damp-stained with some leaves frayed at edges, contemporary red morocco, handsome gilt spine with pomegranates in compartments and seven raised bands, rather rubbed and scuffed, corners worn, folio, J. Brindley, 1737.
⁂ Classic work on the schooling of horses written in Belgium by the royalist Duke of Newcastle during his exile before the Restoration. It was originally published in Antwerp in 1657 & 1658 but much of the printing run was lost in a fire at the printer's.
