Sami language.- Manuale Lapponicum, first edition, preface in Latin and Swedish, text in Sami, title within typographic border, small tear in penultimate leaf, slightly affecting text, some foxing and toning, contemporary blind-stamped pigskin, extremities worn with exposure of boards beneath, 8vo, Stockholm, Henrich Keyser, 1648.
⁂ One of the earliest books printed in Sami. This Lapland handbook for church use is a translation of the Swedish, Manuale Sueticum. The translation was made by Johannes Tornæus and the language is based on Torne Sami.
Extremely rare at auction with only one appearance on RBH.
