⁂ Rare first edition. Cowper (1731-1800), English poet, hymnwriter and abolitionist (he wrote The Negro's Complaint in 1788, which was often quoted by Martin Luther King). The first poem here includes references to slavery. The second part is 'The progress of a divine'.
