Ackermann (Rudolph, publisher) Characters in the Grand Fancy Ball given by the British Ambassador Sir Henry Wellesley, at Vienna, half-title, 13 hand-coloured engraved plates, marginal soiling, later half calf, by Bayntun of Bath, spine gilt with red calf label, g.e., rubbed, spine slightly chipped at head, [Bobins 433], 4to, R.Ackermann, 1828.
⁂ Featuring characters from the novels of Walter Scott and Baron Le Motte Fouqué the ball was the conclusion of the carnival of 1826, at which Johann Strauss established himself with his famous Täuberln-Walzer.
