The Sea Monster
Engraving, circa 1498, a slightly compromised impression, probably Meder b-c, with burr printing to the headwear of the woman, the shoulder of the monster, and the sky closest to the mountains, sheet 247 x 187 mm (9 3/4 x 7 3/8 in), trimmed within the platemark, thin laid paper mounted onto paper support with no visible watermark, several old folds with some associated splitting and small loss in pen facsimile, loss to the upper left corner and upper centre restored, other scattered small losses throughout, surface dirt (unframed)
