GEORGE MACCO (GERMAN 1863-1933) FJORD, POSSIBLY LOFOTEN Oil on canvas Signed and dated 1913 (lower left) 27.5 x 46cm (10¾ x 18 in.) It has been suggested that the present view depicts Raftsund, Troldfjord in Lofoten. Georg Macco was a German landscape painter and illustrator, associated with the Dusseldorfer Malerschule. He is primarily known for his Orientalist works.He first painted alpine and Nordic landscapes. Macco undertook numerous journeys to the Orient, where he found inspiration and motifs for his paintings that eventually made him one of the most sought after German Orient painters.Please note measurements do not include the frame unless otherwise stated.
