Description

Shelley (Percy Bysshe).- Anacreon. Anacreontis Odaria, ad textus Barnesiani fidem emendata. Accedunt variae lectiones curâ Edvardi Foster, A.M., Edition altera, Shelley's ink signature on half-title, the half-title tipped-in from another copy of Anacreon with ALs from John Wilson to James E. Tayler dated 1866 offering him the autograph of Shelley from his copy of Anacreon and TLs from M.H. Mushlin to James Stevens Cox asking him to find a copy of Anacreon to insert the autograph or offering the signature for £15, also ink signature of Nathaniel Stainton of Wadham College, Oxford, later endpapers, modern morocco-backed cloth, t.e.g., 8vo, B.R. Howlett, 1813.

⁂ A made up copy but with Shelley's autograph and re-united with Anacreon.

Provenance: "93, Great Russell Street, July 30. 1866. Sir I have a very fine Autograph of Percy Bysshe Shelley the Poet in my copy of Anacreon which belonged to him and which came out of his friend Mr Peacock's Library which I shall be happy to submit to you if you would like to see it... John Wilson...James E. Taylor Esq."
