⁂ James Dallaway (1763-1834) was chaplain and physician to the embassy of Robert Liston from1794 to1796, he travelled overland with Liston's entourage which included Gaetano Mercati who became Liston's draughtsman. Count Pietro Gamba (1801-1827) became acquainted with Lord Byron (1788-1824) through his sister, Countess Teresa Guiccioli, one of Byron's many mistresses on the continent. Gamba became a close companion of Byron and accompanied him as secretary and second in command on his second expedition to Greece.
