Atlases.- Blue paper maps.- Bellin (Jacques Nicolas) Composite atlas containing 73 folding maps from around the world, an intriguing group of maps, including Bellin's famous 'Essay D'Une Carte Reduite Contenant Les Parties Conneuees Du Globe', 'Carte de l'Hemisphere Austral' showing Cook's voyages centred in the south pole, and others of the Americas, Asia, India, the East Indies, Pacific Islands, various maps with polar interest and elsewhere, many likely produced to illustrate l'Abbe Prevost's 'Histoire Generale des Voyages', with specifics of exploratory voyages, engravings, on various papers, the 'Essay... Du Globe' on blue-coloured laid paper without watermark, some others on pale blue-coloured paper, various sizes, the vast majority folding, a few splits, occasional handling creases, some minor marginal losses, scattered minor spitting and surface dirt, all maps affixed onto stubs, with collector's label of 'Constant Bugnon a Fleurier' affixed to front free endpaper, also with collector's red ink stamp of 'CH. Schindler', contemporary quarter calf, spine gilt with morocco label 'Atlas des Voyage', spine splitting and some losses, corners bumped, worn, 4to, [circa 1780s].
