Voltaire (François-Marie Arouet de) Les Oeuvres Complètes..., edited by Haydn Mason, Nicholas Cronk & others, (121 vol., of ?138 published, comprising 1A-5, 7-10, 12-20C, 22-28B, 30A-36, 39-43, 45A-52, 56A-80C, 83, 136-140B, 142, & 143), the definitive edition, with notes, essays, and comprehensive critical apparatus, prepared under the direction of The Voltaire Foundation of the University of Oxford, plates and illustrations, integral ribbon bookmarks, vol. 31A upper hinge broken, original cloth, gilt, some dust-jackets, a few spines a little marked and faded, a very few with short closed tears, 8vo, Oxford & Geneva, 1969-2018.

Plans for a complete critical edition were conceived in Oxford in the 1960s; the bibliographer and eminent Voltaire scholar Theodore Besterman (1904-1976) was invited to guide the project; Besterman brought a wealth of scholarship and academic influence, and he bequeathed his large library to Oxford's Taylor Institution; upon Besterman's death the university inaugurated The Voltaire Foundation as a discrete research department.
