Gallipoli.- McDougall (Arthur, DSO, soldier) Autograph Letter signed "Arthur" to his mother, 1p., 8vo, Gallipoli, Sunday, 22nd August 1915, describing fighting in Gallipoli, "Yesterday we were in action for the first time. Hell itself cannot be worse. I came through unscathed, ditto Watson, but Ritchie wounded in leg & face from shrapnel. Thank God I was enabled to do my part, & felt no fear. Wedgewood Benn, Watson & our Colonel are three of the bravest men living"; Postcard of Captain Scott's Expedition Southern Party, by Herbert Ponting, [1911; and a quantity of other letters, photographs, postcards and ephemera (including newspaper cuttings of Sir Robert McDougall's gift of Dovedale to the National Trust) relating to members of the McDougall family, manufacturers of flour, in a modern album, v.s., v.d. (c. 120 pieces).
