⁂ Sir Malcolm Donald McEacharn (1852-1910) was Mayor of Melbourne from 1897 to 1900, and a well-known and highly successful Australian shipping magnate. McEacharn's house - shown in several of the present images - was named Goathland after the village in North Yorkshire where he married his first wife, and was located in the Melbourne suburb of St. Kilda. Three photographs illustrate McEacharn's son Neil (b. 1884), another showing the 'Governess', and another of McEacharn himself with his coach in front of Goathland.
