Description

Vertue (George, 1684-1756) A Description Of Nine Historical Prints, Representing Kings, Queens, Princes, &c. Of The Tudor Family, nine loose plates, title and 9 pp. of text, engravings, each double-page sheet approx. 545 x 670 mm. (21 1/2 x 26 1/2 in), light surface dirt and browning, some marginal pencil inscriptions, date and publisher's details removed from title, Society of Antiquaries of London, [circa 1740 but reprinted 1776].

⁂ Plates include: 1. King Henry VII and his Queen Elizabeth; King Henry VIII and his Queen Jane Seymour; 2. Arthur, Henry and Margaret, children of Henry VII; 3. Mary Queen of France, sister of Henry VIII and her second husband Charles Brandon; 4. their daughter, Frances, Duchess of Suffolk and her second husband Adrian Stock; 5. Lady Jane Gray; 6. Edward VI; 7. the cenotaph of Henry Lord Darnley; 8. battle of Carbery Hill; 9. Queen Elizabeth.
