Description

Wilson (Sir Colin Alexander St John, 1922-2007) Study for the Entrance Hall, The British Library, St. Pancras, black chalk or graphite on tracing paper, with architect's details printed on sheet at right hand margin, sheet 690 x 990 mm., inscribed, signed and dated 1980 in red crayon lower right, minor cockling and handling creases, 1980.

⁂ The project for the design of the current British Library building began in 1962, and Wilson was involved with the architectural production for the 35 year period that ensued. The building was finally completed in 1997 following numerous budget issues, public protests, and changes of government.
