The Library of the late David Harrison: 17th-19th Century Literature & the Arts

David Harrison was born in 1933 into a farming family in Ryedale and after being educated in Yorkshire gained a scholarship to Queens College Oxford following National Service in Singapore.  It was at Oxford that his interest in collecting books flourished. He would read extracts from novels of the day to his fellow students and after achieving a Master's degree in history, began to travel throughout Europe fulfilling his interests in art, architecture and the Grand Tour. These three interests formed the basis of his collection of antiquarian books. Like most avid collectors he was always on the look out for items to add to his library. David spent most of his working career and retired life in York. It was his wish that on his passing, his library should be brought to the market for fellow enthusiasts to have the opportunity to purchase these rare  books.
