Histoire Archéologique, Descriptive et Graphique de la Sainte-Chapelle du Palais, 25 plates, 20 chromolithographed and heightened with gold, the other 5 engraved on india paper and mounted (foxed), contemporary morocco-backed boards,rubbed, spine ends chipped, Paris, 1865 § Vatout (Jean, editor) Histoire Lithographiée du Palais-Royal, lithographed title, 36 lithographed portraits and plates after Vernet, Delacroix and others, all on india paper and mounted, final plate of 'Déclaration de le Chambre des Députés' with accompanying key on tissue, light spotting and soiling, ex-library copy with small unobtrusive embossed stamp at foot of title, contemporary half morocco, a little worn, upper cover detached, Paris, Ch. ⁂ The first describes the restoration of the chapel by J.B.A.Lassus and features magnificent chromolithographs of the decoration and stained glass. The second is the only substantive record of the paintings in the Palais Royal before they were destroyed by fire during the revolution of 1848, including Delacroix's painting of Richelieu holding mass.
