Callimachus. Hymni, cum scholiis nunc primum æditis. Sententiae..., Greek and a little Roman type, title in Greek and Latin, woodcut printer's device to title and verso of otherwise blank f., woodcut large and small historiated initials and head-pieces, first few ff. stained, some worming to lower margins, mostly at end, occasional spotting or light foxing, 19th century blind-stamped and gilt calf, rebacked, corners worn, rubbed, [Adams C230], Basel, [Hieronymus Froben & Nicolaus Episcopius], 1532; and a 1607 Boethius, printed by Plantin, small 4to& 8vo (2)

⁂ A handsomely printed edition of the 'Hymns' and 'Sentences'. Callimachus was a poet, critic and scholar at the Library of Alexandria, where he carried out a bibliographical survey of the holdings, know as Pinakes. This 120 volume work provided a foundation for later work on Greek literature.
