⁂ John Wynne Baker (d.1775) was a leading agronomist and member of the Dublin Society. Baker was able, with the assistance of a grant from the society, to purchase a farm of 354 acres on which he carried out his experiments that formed the subject of his annual report. In 1765 the society also helped Baker set up a factory for making agricultural implements, although this was unfortunately destroyed by fire two years later.
