Description

Derbyshire.- Rayner (Samuel) Rayner's Illustrations of Derbyshire Scenery. Vol.1, 14 lithograph plates on laid india paper by J.D. Harding, tissue guards, occasional light marginal browning, label of the Centre Museum, Matlock on front paste-down, [Abbey, Scenery, 110, a variant with different title and 15 plates], original cloth, paper label to upper cover, rubbed and lightly stained, small folio (280 x 190 mm.), Matlock Bath, J.Vallance, Centre Museum; London, S.Rayner, [c.1830].

⁂ Scarce. Copies with 14 plates are recorded, as is a copy of "Part 1" with 6 plates. Rayner and Vallance were partners in the Centre Museum where they sold articles made from the local Blue John mineral.
