Poe (Edgar Allan) Histoires Extraordinaires [&] Nouvelles Histoires Extraordinaires, translated by Charles Baudelaire, first editions, half-titles, that of the first work with faded inscription to verso, first work with some marginal damp-staining at beginning and end, foxing and browning, mainly to second work, non-uniform contemporary calf-backed boards, rubbed with some wear to corners, 8vo, Paris, Michel Lévy Frères, 1856-57.

⁂ First editions of Beaudelaire's famous translations of Poe, including "Le coeur révélateur", "La chute de la maison Usher" and "La Barrique d'amontillado", and his preface "Edgar Poe, sa vie et ses oeuvres".
